CHP: Communications Officer

Children’s Hospital Foundation is seeking a communications professional to assist with digital marketing and communications, and fundraising and campaign support. As part of the Communications and Donor Relations team, you will work closely with clinical and administrative team members at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, patient families, donors and volunteers to develop content that showcases CHF’s mission and impact.

This position reports to the Communications Manager and works alongside other communications, donor engagement and special event team members.

Key responsibilities:

Digital marketing & communications

  • Develops and manages calendar of social media content with input from other Foundation and Hospital team members, including event promotion and fundraising messaging
  • Creates monthly e-newsletter and event promotions emails
  • Maintains and updates Foundation website (Terminalfour) alongside event-specific microsites (Wix)
  • Collaborates with outside vendors and partners on projects related to the creation of communication materials
  • Works with Advancement team to ensure data integrity between online systems

Fundraising & campaign support

  • Supports fundraising functions, focusing on events and corporate fundraising needs, through the creation of collateral and other assets, including social media posts
  • Provides guidance on online advertising and direct response and planned giving marketing efforts conducted with external vendors
  • Assists with departmental project management and organization through Wrike

The Ideal Candidate

  • 3-5 years experience in a relevant role
  • Experience within a health care and/or children’s hospital fundraising environment
  • Experience with Blackbaud fundraising products, including Raiser’s Edge NXT, or other donation CRM
  • Experience with website management through Wix and Terminalfour
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite products
  • Experience with Wrike or other task management software

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of professional experience
  • Experience with email marketing platforms
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Access to reliable transportation as needed to perform job duties
  • Microsoft Office experience

Schedule

Position is approximately 80% remote and 20% in person with fluctuations week to week. Must be able to attend meetings, interviews and other activities in the Richmond area as needed.

CHP: Advancement Services Coordinator 

Children’s Hospital Foundation is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive development professional to support the Advancement Services team. This role provides comprehensive administrative and clerical assistance across key functional areas, including gift and records management, reporting, prospect development, and project coordination.

As a member of the Advancement Services team, you will assist with tasks related to gift processing and reconciliation, data entry and quality, gift receipting and acknowledgements, report criteria and development, and prospect research and moves management. Additionally, this position will provide direct administrative support to the Vice President of Advancement Services and Foundation Operations, helping to ensure smooth execution of departmental initiatives.

A core responsibility of this role is to deliver strategic support that enables the Advancement Services team to effectively prioritize, allocate resources and execute tasks aligned with organizational goals.

This position reports to the Vice President of Advancement Services and Foundation Operations and collaborates closely with other team members within the Advancement Services department.

The ideal candidate

  • 3+ years  of experience in an advancement services role within a nonprofit organization of comparable size and complexity
  • Proficiency in donor database systems, preferably Raiser’s Edge NXT, including gift processing, data entry, records management and reporting
  • Strong understanding of gift processing workflows, including reconciliation, receipting and acknowledgement procedures
  • Experience with prospect research and moves management, including familiarity with research tools and donor cultivation strategies
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet multiple deadlines across concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data integrity, especially in maintaining donor records and financial documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with leadership
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word, and comfort with learning new software tools
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Interest in working in a collaborative team environment to identify priorities, collect information and execute deliverables in a timely manner
  • Passionate about children’s health care and excited to be part of Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU’s vision to become a top children’s hospital
  • Proven ability to partner with and anticipate the needs of frontline gift officers in a fast-paced fundraising environment
  • Experience managing complex projects and tasks, ideally using project management platforms such as Wrike or comparable tools

The Opportunity:
Children’s Hospital Foundation is seeking a communications professional to research, plan and
execute written materials in support of a wide variety of efforts, including public relations, general
marketing, donor solicitation, impact reporting and more. As part of the Communications and
Donor Relations team, you will work closely with clinical and administrative team members at
Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU, patient families, donors and volunteers to develop content

A crucial part of this role is providing strategic support to the frontline fundraising teams through

that align with institutional priorities and effectively present a compelling case for philanthropic
investment.
