Three local business executives will be inducted into the Greater Richmond Business Hall of Fame in May, including Jane G. Watkins, President and CEO of the Virginia Credit Union. She plans to retire March 31 after 33 years of service, including 15 years as head of the largest state-chartered member-owned financial cooperative in Virginia. Watkins joined the Virginia Credit Union in 1982 as accounting manager. When Watkins became president and CEO in January 2000, the Virginia Credit Union had 125,000 members. It now has more than 247,000 members. Total assets have grown from $629 million to $2.8 billion.
The three join 98 other business leaders who have been inducted into the program since it was established in 1988. Inductees are chosen for their contributions to business in the Richmond area.
The program is sponsored by Junior Achievement of Central Virginia. The ceremony and banquet will be held at The Jefferson Hotel on May 19.
