Committees
This article provides brief descriptions and responsibilities of the various Chapter Committees.
Retention & Recruitment Committee
This committee directs the activities of the Chapter in securing new member firms and in processing all changes in membership in accordance with the Bylaws. This committee is the backbone of the chapter, and will maintain an active list of prospective businesses and industries for membership recruitment. Retaining existing member firms and actively recruiting additional representatives or replacements when appropriate is another important role of this committee.
In addition, the committee is responsible for assigning mentors to our new members. They are also responsible for facilitating, coordinating, and monitoring the Chapter Mentoring program. The chair of this committee is a Board Member.
Sergeant-at-Arms Committee
Greets members, executives and guests at monthly meetings, and assists the Sergeant-at-Arms with collecting meeting fees and tracking attendance. Sends birthday, get well and condolence cards to representatives when circumstances warrant.
Program & Fundraising Committee
Program is responsible for planning and arranging the programs and speakers for the regular meetings of the Chapter. The Chair of this committee is a Board Member.
Fundraising devises, suggests, and supervises raffles and other fundraising projects to support the general operations of the Chapter. The chair of this committee is a Board Member.
Communications Committee
Communications is responsible for the preparation, publication, and distribution of the Chapter’s monthly publication, EWI Richmond Chapter Connect and other publications as needed. In addition, the Communications Committee is responsible for photography, social media promotion of the Chapter on Facebook, updating the Chapter website, including the listing of events and directory listings, and creating and maintaining registered site member profiles. The chair of this committee is a Board Member.
B/C/DP Committee
This committee is divided into three sub-committees that comprise the chapters focus on literacy and education, under the direction of the Director-at-Large a Board Member
The EWI Scholarship (EWISP) committee works directly with high schools to encourage participation and to inform them of the guidelines for the EWI scholarship awards. The Committee selects the panel of judges that determine the scholarship winners from our Chapter, and manages all of the details for the annual awards dinner.
The Adult Students in Scholastic Transition (ASIST) committee works with area colleges, in partnership with Reynolds Community College to encourage non-traditional students to apply for scholarship awards. The Committee selects the panel of judges that determine the scholarship winners from our Chapter, and manages all of the details for the annual awards dinner.
The Literacy committee is responsible for investigating and developing philanthropic projects such as Project Impact, which would be appropriate for the Chapter, and assist in administering projects that support EWI’s mission.
Nominating Committee
Nominating shall present a Slate of Officers and Directors for the coming year at the September meeting. This Committee is also responsible for presenting names to be considered should any vacancies occur. The Vice President serves on this committee along with at least one additional representative from the membership. The chair of this committee is the immediate Past President.
