Born in Richmond, Virginia, shortly after the conclusion of the Civil War, Henry W. Woody lived all his life in the city and established the Woody Funeral Home near Historic St. John’s Church in 1905. Due largely to his reputation of professionalism and integrity, the business outgrew the original facility and a new, more modern building was built at 25th Street and Jefferson Avenue in 1916. SEE MORE
